Biohacking Social #31 – Biohackers Chiang Mai
During the Biohackers Chiang Mai Biohacking Social, we discussed a LOT of different biohacking topics, from the “magic” of Moringa – to the benefits of abstinence (it’s not what you think!), and MANY topics in between.
Wait a sec! What is biohacking and a biohacking social?
Good question. It’s something I covered in an article after our first biohacking social meetup – so you can click to learn more.
Biohacking Topics
You’ll learn more about Moringa and sex soon enough. But first, here are some of the things we discussed:
[+] Biohack obesity – and your health – with diet and nutrition.
[+] You’ll reach your health goals with fasting.
[+] You need to exercise – but not much!
[+] Your circadian rhythm
[+] Your guide to sex education – biohacked.
[+] Where you can get tested – and many more resources.
Biohack obesity – and your health – with diet and nutrition.
We talked about various ways to improve your health: moringa, wheat grass, sea moss, and quitting caffeine. Read (and click!) to learn more…
Irish sea moss is both praised for its reported health benefits – and discouraged for the active ingredient’s (carrageenan) potential to upset your stomach. Is it worth it? You decide.
Should you stop drinking coffee? When you read that caffeine contributes to heart disease, high cholesterol, arthritis, stroke, damaged blood vessels, insomnia, anxiety, and depleted calcium and iron (in women), you may reconsider that next cup of coffee.
You’ll reach your health goals with fasting.
Getting back to the topic of obesity, one of our members explained how she discovered fasting as an effective way to lose weight and improve her overall health.
As you may already know, weight control is just one small benefit (or side effect) of fasting.
Two resources were mentioned: Dr Jason Fung, and Dr Mindy Pelz.
Yes, they are doctors and they offer great information. I’m no doctor – but I have done the research, gathered some of the best materials and packaged into a 4-week intensive course where you become a “Master Faster”. It’s all in my online 4-week Master Faster Detox challenge – starting SOON. If you’re interested in joining, send me a message.
You need to exercise – but not much!
There was a lot of good discussion around fitness and exercise. Some topics: Muay Thai, weight lifting, body by science, HIIT, sprints, and exercise in the sun.
You can find Muay Thai (Thai boxing) all around Thailand. I tried one class and found it’s an amazing workout – for both the body and mind.
Lifting weights, sprinting and doing high intensity interval training (HIIT) are all efficient ways to get fit. If you want an efficient way to lift weights, check out Dr Doug McGuff’s Body by Science.
Also, you can click here to discover the MANY benefits of exercising outdoors.
Your circadian rhythm.
To continue where you left off, exercising outdoors is great for your circadian rhythm.
If you already have your basic sleep hygiene in place, you can take it to the next level by waking up with the sun.
One device to simulate this are with Philipps Sleep and Wake Up Lights.
Your guide to sex education – biohacked.
A couple of people shared resources for tracking women’s menstrual cycles that can help us make sense of mood swings. For women, there’s Hormone Horoscope. And for us men, there’s Female Forecaster.
Another person shared the benefits of semen retention – primarily by abstaining from sex and masturbation. I’ve only experimented with this accidentally when I’m single for long periods of time – and when I tried having sex without ejaculating.
The simple science behind it is that a man’s testosterone drops significantly after ejaculation – as explained and described by Dave Asprey. Thus, if you ejaculate less often, you have more testosterone. The trick seems to find the sweet spot for frequency of ejaculation that gives you the most ongoing energy.
Where you can get tested – and many more resources.
Dr Nisachon Morgan MD was recommended as a medical doctor who might appeal to (and be sympathetic toward) us biohacking types – here in Chiang Mai.
Also mentioned during the meetup: psychadelics, bone healing, digital detox, retreats, EZ water, Dr Sam from Nomad Summit (from Tao Gardens), grounding, and travel.
