By now you’ve heard some stories about fasting – and how it’s improved many people’s lives.

You’ll soon learn many of the great benefits of fasting – including some you probably have never heard or thought of!

Fasting preserves muscle.

In the last article you learned about the fasting detox countdown – leading up to the free fasting challenge.

Before you dive into the many benefits of fasting, first ask yourself:

What problems might fasting solve?

Simply put, too many people nowadays are fat, sick and tired.

To that I would add: stressed. We lead increasingly busy lives with little time to focus on our own health.

What about keto?

Although the keto diet is all the rage these days, I strongly believe that, although it can help people, there is a much simpler – and more sustainable – way to improve your health.

Fasting to the rescue! But wait…

What is fasting?

Although I compare fasting to the keto diet, it’s worth pointing out that fasting is NOT a diet. In fact, it’s quite the opposite.

Rather than focusing on WHAT you eat, you can think of fasting as focusing on WHEN you eat.

There are MANY benefits to this approach…

Fasting helps you lose weight.

This is my least favorite benefit and unfortunately it’s the one thing people desire the most.

Yes, it’s true. If you don’t eat, you will lose weight. There’s no doubt about it.

The reason I don’t like this goal of losing weight is that I don’t think it’s a very healthy approach.

That is, you can lose weight in many unhealthy ways. You can also maintain and gain weight in healthy ways.

That is, if you’re eating right and exercising,

You will build muscle while burning fat.

To me, this is a healthier goal – and it’s a great benefit of fasting when you make sure you’re exercising and eating enough during your “eating windows”.

Fasting helps you cleanse and detox your body.

The terms “cleanse” and “detox” get thrown around a lot without really explaining what is meant.

However, when you’re fasting, you get some serious biological clean-up simply by giving your body a much-needed rest from food.

This is linked to helping fight just about every chronic illness you may face – including heart disease, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, stroke, and cancer.

You have more free time when you fast.

This is one of my personal favorite benefits of fasting.

Rather than worry about planning for food, buying food, preparing food and eating, I can focus on what matters to me most.

My favorite example is a powder day…meaning that we have fresh snow! And the sooner I get out on the mountain, the more fun I’ll have snowboarding – before everyone else packs down the snow.

Before I discovered fasting, I was probably a lot like most other people. That is, I would wake up to all of this beautiful fresh snow and then quickly start preparing breakfast. I would stuff some food in my mouth, stuff snacks in my pockets and rush out for the snow. When all was said and done, I would usually spend 1 hour or so on food.

Since, I’ve discovered a MUCH better way to enjoy not just the snow, but many other things in my life. Instead of eating breakfast and packing a bunch of food with me, I just get up and go – with the peace of mind that my body and mind will function BETTER without the food. And now I have more time to enjoy all that fresh powder!

This time savings carries over into many other areas of my life. As I write this, it’s 11am and I just finished a cup of Bulletproof Coffee.

I could go on and on with the many benefits of fasting. Instead, I’ll leave you with this:
