Biohacking Social #4 – Biohackers Chiang Mai
During the Biohackers Chiang Mai Biohacking Social, we again touched on a LOT of different biohacking topics during our meetup, from sleep to super-foods, and MANY topics in between.
Wait a sec! What is biohacking and a biohacking social?
Good question. It’s something I covered in an article after our first biohacking social meetup – so you can click to learn more.
Biohacking Topics
You’ll learn more about highlightandhook soon enough. But first, here are some of the things we discussed:
[+] How’s your sleep?
[+] How much time do you fast?
[+] How’s your technology hygiene?
[+] What’s your addiction?
[+] How mindful are you?
[+] What foods keep you healthy?
[+] Where do you want to meet next?
How’s your sleep?
But first, you should know why sleep is important. According to this Bulletproof article, sleep
improves brain function, aids in muscle recovery, boosts longevity, balances your hormones, protects your heart, and burns fat.
Other than general sleep hygiene, we also talked about testosterone, the Oura ring, glycine, CBD, turning off devices and electricity, grounding, latex mattress, carbs at night, sleeping in nature, and magnesium (mag chloride).
I struggle with sleep and one of the best things I’ve found for sleep is raising the head of my bed a few inches so that I sleep at a slight angle. I immediately noticed that I slept (a little) better – and I didn’t have to get up to pee at night.
How much time do you fast?
The question isn’t whether or not you fast. We all take breaks from eating so we all fast. The question then becomes: how much time do you fast? And why?
There are many benefits of fasting – like:
You burn fat.
You “detox” your body.
You boost your productivity.
I fast mostly for its detox and productivity benefits. When I free myself from food, I can get more work (and play!) done without worrying about food.
How’s your technology hygiene?
What are the benefits of “good device hygiene”?
By avoiding harmful EMFs and junk light, we’ll have better sleep, better eyesight, less risk for disease and we’ll feel better – with more energy.
What’s your addiction?
During the meetup, we talked a bit about various addictions. I think to a degree we all suffer from addictions – whether it be drugs, alcohol, foods, or any number of things.
When we “get over” addictions, we often feel like the addiction no longer controls us and we have more control over our lives.
If you want to learn more, you can hear an interview between Dave Asprey and Dr Mark Atkinson, my head coach trainer for my coach certification.
How mindful are you?
Perhaps on the flip side of addictions we might find things like mindfulness, meditation and religion – topics that came up during our meetup.
This article explains how mindfulness can:
help relieve stress, treat heart disease, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain, , improve sleep, and alleviate gastrointestinal difficulties.
What foods keep you healthy?
Of course we talked about food. Things like: gluten and gut issues, Jason’s BP coffee, Hillkoff Coffee and superfoods like: moringa, maroom, wheat grass, apple/coconut cider vinegar, turmeric, ginger, lemongrass.
Where do you want to meet next?
We’ve had 4 meetups at Basecamp. Although it’s a favorite of mine, I want to move to a bigger, quieter space. Hence, we’re going to have our next meetup at Hub53.
