Da Nang International Airport
What are your best eating & food options for international flights out of Vietnam?
You’ll find out soon but first let’s take you on your journey out of Vietnam from Da Nang…
You made it through customs and security. Congratulations! But…
You now have some time to kill before your flight takes off. Thus you’re wondering:
Where can you eat – and relax – before you take off for your international flight out of Da Nang Airport?
You want food, drink and a comfortable place to hang out – without “paying an arm and a leg” for it. That is, you don’t want to spend too much money.
As with many airports, things get VERY expensive – especially, as it seems in Vietnam, if you’re inside the international terminal.
You could plan ahead.
Sure, you could have saved some money and eaten before getting to the airport.
Or, you could have grabbed some food for a reasonable price before you went through security and customs at the “Big Bowl” chain.
But you know it will take some time to get through security and immigration – but you never know how long – so you don’t want to risk losing time.
Your options at DAD are limited.
Once inside beyond security and immigration checks, we had about 2 hours to kill… And the dining options seemed sparse – to put it lightly.
With most of the shops, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to purchase gifts and souvenirs – if that’s your thing.
However, if you want food, you have about 3 options:
[+] Burger King,
[+] Italian food and
[+] Chinese food.
Wait a sec…
I’m in Vietnam – and there’s no Vietnamese food? WTF!
What about the prices?
You’re looking at spending $5 to $10 just for a cup of coffee. Yes, that’s in US Dollars. And you’ll spend more for food.
VIP Lounge to the rescue!
What does Las Vegas have to do with Vietnam?
I don’t often go the VIP lounge at the airport but I found it was a great option when I had about 4 hours to kill when I was at the Las Vegas airport.
In the Vegas airport – for $35 – I had an all-you-can-eat (and drink) buffet. The food was low quality but at least I had a place to drop my bags and relax for a while.
The “Orchid CIP Lounge” in Vietnam
When I saw the VIP lounge at the Da Nang airport, I decided to check it out.
For $25, you get a food buffet and a spacious area to relax.
Sold. VIP lounge it is.
After weighing our options, the choice was clear. And we weren’t disappointed. They even had Vietnamese food options – like Pho noodle bowls.
And my favorites: Beef stew and sweet potatoes (2 different dishes).
What are “healthy” food choices?
The boiled eggs are probably the healthiest option because there are no “bad” ingredients – like vegetable oils.
I could go on and on about “healthy” food options… but ask yourself,
“What is the opposite of food and eating?”
Flying and Fasting.
If you really want to save money – and do your body a favor with your healthiest option – I recommend simply not eating anything. Your body will thank you.
