4Seas Nimman Show Of Hands
Who calls Chiang Mai home?
- Chiang Mai is home—or you are here temporarily / seasonally?
- House · condo/apartment · hotel/serviced room/hostel?
- Here for smoke season? Used an air purifier then? Still use it now?
- Trouble sleeping? Low daytime energy?
Name · how long here · why you came (30 seconds)
4Seas Nimman The Vacation Clue
Where do you sleep best?
Wake unrefreshed · congestion/sneezing/cough · irritated eyes · headaches/brain fog · broken sleep · low energy
- Do you notice any of these?
- Do they change when you sleep somewhere else?
A change away is a clue—not proof of mold.
4Seas Nimman Local Breathing Studies
Damp homes, more breathing problems.
Researchers surveyed 1,159 junior-high students in upper northern Thailand about their homes and breathing symptoms in wet and dry seasons.
- Indoor mold → 2.16× the odds of a recent respiratory infection.
- During wet season, condensation or leaks → about 1.8× the odds.
- A second analysis linked mold with rhinitis and condensation with wheeze.
This is a link—not proof of cause. It concerns children's breathing, not adult fatigue.
4Seas Nimman Why People Differ
Why people react differently.
The clearest reasons are exposure level and time, allergies or asthma, immune and lung health, age, medications, and other pollutants.
- HLA genes affect immune recognition—but do not diagnose ‘poor mold detox.’
- GST and CYP genes affect toxin processing; most evidence is about foodborne aflatoxin, not household air.
- MTHFR, SOD2 and TNF are plausible pathways—not validated mold decision tools.
No gene test proves your room caused symptoms or chooses a detox supplement.
4Seas Nimman Brief Room Audit
Find where water stays—and what it is soaking.
- Where does moisture enter? Where does it stay? What material is there?
- Check: ceiling/walls · windows · visible AC interior/stains · behind furniture · MDF edges · bed base · curtains/rugs · closets · grout/caulk
- Hard/easier: glazed tile · metal · sealed concrete
- Porous/holds contamination: drywall paper · MDF/particleboard · carpet/pad · fabric/upholstery
Write your most likely location + material on the back of the sheet.

4Seas Nimman Humidity Decisions
Let the meter choose: open, close or dry.
- Keep indoor relative humidity (RH) below 60%; ideally 30–50% if feasible.
- Dry wet materials within 24–48 hours.
- Measure before bed · on waking · closet · behind furniture · suspicious wall.
- Opening lowers moisture? Open. Raises it? Close + AC/dry mode/dehumidifier.
- Advanced: compare dew point / absolute humidity—not outdoor RH alone.
Which setup makes the reading fall and the surface dry?
4Seas Nimman Rainy-Season AC
Your AC should cool and dry the room.
- Look without dismantling: filter · visible coil · louvers/blower area · water/stains · smell · airflow.
- Clean the filter regularly. Professionally clean about every 6 months—sooner if dirty, musty, leaking, weak, or poorly draining.
- Dry-mode test: measure → close room → run dry → measure.
- Cool room + high RH? Check dirt, drain, short cycling/oversizing, air leaks and settings.
Ask the technician to cover filter, coil, blower, drain pan and drain line.
4Seas Nimman Three Different Jobs
Purify the air. Dry the room and bedding.
- True HEPA filter: at least 99.97% at 0.3 microns.
- 20 m² bedroom example: clean-air delivery rate (CADR) ≈ 240 m³/h or higher.
- HEPA reduces airborne particles/spores; it cannot fix a leak or surface growth.
- Dehumidifier: size for the room; use with doors/windows reasonably closed.
- Completely dry bedding, laundry, towels, mattress, rugs, closets, luggage and shoes.
4Seas Nimman Small Hard-Surface Cleanup
Remove it, rinse if needed, then dry it.
- 1. Stop moisture. 2. Gloves + sealed goggles + N95. 3. Scrub with detergent + water. 4. Remove residue / rinse if label says. 5. Dry completely.
- Plain dish/laundry detergent · Magiclean Active for compatible tile/grout film · Haiter Regular only when its label permits.
- Never mix bleach with vinegar, ammonia, or another cleaner. Never paint or caulk over growth.
- >10 ft² / 0.93 m² · recurrence · hidden odor · AC involvement · contaminated flood → qualified professional.
Visual joke: small-cleanup PPE is gloves, sealed goggles and N95—not a hazmat suit.
4Seas Nimman What To Test—and When
Fix the room before testing yourself.
Find the water source → contain if needed → remove or clean → dry fully → check the AC → confirm it does not return.
- Remediation: Initial Hygiene/Rentokil · BELFOR · Smart Fix · Solid Solutions
- Indoor air: Clean Air Thailand · CleAIR · Airtech · SGS
- Clinical: allergy or lung specialist · Bangkok Hospital Chiang Mai
- Advanced: air/surface samples · dust-DNA tests · mycotoxin tests · immune/genetic panels
No official airborne mold number can declare a room ‘safe’ or ‘unsafe.’
4Seas Nimman Build Your Experiment
Choose one seven-day room experiment.
Dry mode · AC cleaning · ventilation comparison · remove/dry a moisture source · HEPA purifier · dehumidifier · vacation test
- Write: one change · baseline · 1–2 signals · start date · review date · keep/change/stop rule.
- Primary signals: sleep quality / refreshed feeling · morning energy.
- Optional: congestion · awakenings · brain fog · afternoon energy · HRV · humidity · musty smell.
- Vacation test: Home A1 → Away B → Home A2.
